This is the intro to one of the books i am currently working on.

Introduction

The wind blows yet I fell nothing. No Cold; No warmth; No fear. Anger fled from my soul years ago. Even the vengeance I sought many times before has all dissipated. You left this world before I could tell you…
The thought of you in my mind flows down to my heart and quiver in agonizing pain. This ominous thing that lingers in my heart and mind is the only thing I have left now…pain. But it will end. I shall destroy the ones that did this to you and end it all.
As I approach the gate, I push you from my mind and resume my vacuous state. The guards in the towers raise their muskets. I let my gaze drift up the enormous stone fortress that stood before me. The sentries took aim. The gates of the great stone fortress were the tallest of anything I had seen. Their fingers slowly pressed against their triggers. I squinted to see the top of this stronghold of brave soldiers. Then pain. A different pain then I knew; A better pain.
Your eyes pierced the darkness that was sweeping over me. I felt my body began to drift forward. A loud crack then rang in the air. Then I felt the ground beneath my face. I am Dead…
No. NO! My eyes widened with my will. I will not die. I will not fail against these thieves, who stole the one thing precious to me. They will fall to my power. I felt life return to my limp body, yet my vision was still engraved by your eyes. It caused my pain to return. The pain that gave me power. The pain that I could so easily harness. The pain that would one day end me.
I felt the flame of my power erupted from my body as I rose to face my enemy. I spoke the words of their death as I raised my gaze to the massive doors of their gate. The wooden gate creaked and splintered as I pressed down on them. Shots rang in the air, but they meant nothing to me. The doors shattered into a shower of bolts, as big as spears, which stormed all around me. A wave of men burst from the once impenetrable fortress as another rush of riffle fire swept passed me, deflected by my awesome power. I let my gaze drift from the charging soldiers, sealing their fate.
The scent of burning flesh filled the air as screams of pain filled my ears. I stepped forward into the sea of corpses and felt the crispy squish of charred flesh beneath my feet. There were moans that drifted through the air; The only spark of life left in the carnage. A hand arose from the field of desecrated warriors and gripped my leg. But it’s grip could not hold for my power melted away it’s skin, leaving only bone.
I continued onward, towards the gate, which now stood wide open. I felt something rolling my face. It felt like warm milk as it moved across the bridge of my nose. I ignored it as I move toward the enemy I sought to destroy.
I could so easily destroy them with a blink of an eye, but I want to make them suffer as I do everyday. I will take what little enjoyment I can from the pain in there screams as I watch each and every one of them die.
I now enter darkness as I pass through the gates and into a long, dark hallway. I continued at my steady pace toward the light emitted from the other side. It was nearing night and the sun sat low, still hanging on with small rays of light. But soon night will crush the great king of daylight, as I will crush those who stand before me.
I reached the end of the tunnel an looked around to see yet another force to stand against me. I glared passed them into the city, where people were cowering in houses while many others were looking for shelter. It was time.
I opened my mouth and spoke the words of the dead. The soldiers before me began to charge; Their swords drawn and pikes and sabers readied as they moved to strike. The ground shook furiously as my words sailed.
Thousands of corpses exploded from the tunnel behind me, like a swarm of death. The cloud of bodies and limbs swept passed me as if I were a tree in the path if the wind. My charred minions cut through the advancing army, killing whatever they touched.
Chaos broke out as fear and panic fill my enemies. Many fought a futile battle for their lives, as many more ran. Buildings went ablaze as the sun disappeared behind the horizon. Men and women, grasping their children as they tried to escape the death that hunted them.
I moved forward into the destruction and saw my minions ripping through this doomed castle, some still wore the armor adorned with the emblem of their new prey. Fire now engulfed the city as the music of it’s inhabitant’s pain rang through the air.
I now reached the center of the city, and stopped to observe my work. I then rotated around to see the destruction, until my eyes fell upon a young girl. She was knelt over, her eyes tightly shut; apparently in fear. I looked down upon her. She was in tattered cloths and was covered in dirt. She wore no shoes and her dark hair was a mess. She seemed no more than eight years of age; I took her for a simple street orphan.
She looked up at me… then pain… her eyes… your eyes. I fell to a knee, as she rose to her feet. Her eyes were not of fear… but sorrow. Then, I felt my arms around her, embracing her. Tears filled my eyes, as I was swept with feelings. Real feelings, of sadness and loneliness. I began to weep as the girl leaned against me, her chin on my shoulder.
I suddenly felt a dark cloud above me. I looked up, tears still in my vision. I saw my legion of evil sweeping toward us, their dark gaze fixed on the girl. I spoke, but their force was to strong to stop now. Anger swept through as there was a ring a scraping metal. I swung and my blade cut through the death like a gentle stream. The cloud writhed as it evaporated into nothing.
I looked back at the girl. She had collapsed to the ground, but her life remained. I gathered her up; she looked like an angel as I cradled her in my arms. I turned toward the gates and began to walk. I reached the gate and paused. The girl wriggled in my arms before resting her head against my chest, falling into a peaceful sleep. My head turned back toward the destruction I had created.
    No more.

The Love of Two Souls

A wonder I have had for some time. Can one truly succeed at accomplishing the impossible. Well of course if one could that would make it possible. Perhaps the impossible does not exist. Only many improbabilities. Perhaps then it is the improbable I must question. How hard would one be willing to strive to achieve the improbable. I suppose it would depend upon how much one wants or needs success in their task.

I must succeed. However improbable, I must succeed.

Talia

Time seemed to flow slowly for Tali. It had always seemed that way to her at least. Everyone else just buzzed around her as if they hadn’t a care in the world; it was a lonely place for her. Yet her time came one day in the form of a letter. It was something of a vex to her at first for there was no name attached giving clue to whom it was from. It read:

Dear Tali,

I hope this letter finds you in good spirits. If not, I am truly sorry. I had hoped the life provided would be suitable to your standards, but I doubt you could have foreseen the event that transpired. It is very odd that I should be the one to write you after all this time had passed, yet I also find a small comfort in it. The Elders must be wiser than I thought. Well, I suppose I should get to the point at hand. I will be arriving in three days to retrieve you. By then everything should be in place for your arrival here in the city.

Till Then.

P.S. I took the liberty of extracting your things from the safe. I hope you don’t mind, but time is of the essence.

Tali read the letter through at least a dozen time by the end of the first day. Each line seemed to entrance her as if they had some deeper clue to it’s meaning. Yet she could see nothing of value. All she knew was someone was coming for her in two days.
The second day came and still she agonized over the meaning of her cryptic letter. She went through the day without notice of anyone around her. She was in her own world of mystery and secrecy, weaving her way through plot after plot, trying to discover which was true. It was at supper that she realized there had been no time for her to complete her tasks for the day. Shrugged them off and laid her head down to rest for the night.
The sun rose on the third day a couple of hours after Tali had awaken. She trembled with anticipation. Something grand was going to happen today. She knew not what it would be, yet knew it would be something that would change the world as she knew it. She dressed as quickly as she could and sat at the small wooden table in the center of her small cottage. Minutes passed as if they were hours. Hours as if they were days. Retching through the silence waiting for what was to be the greatest and grandest thing in her life.
Noon cam and went and there was nothing. She could barely stand such anticipation. It burned within her with the brightest intensity. The sun was just about to drop below the horizon when Tali began to loose hope. She needed this and it seemed to be fading as if were nothing more than a dream she was awakening from.
Then the sun disappeared behind the mountains that bordered her home. A full bright moon beamed down on her cottage. There came a knock at her door. She could not control the squeal of joy as she skidded over to great her mysterious letter writer. She swung the door open to reveal a cool crisp night, yet there was no stranger standing before her.
It was a man. A man she knew very well. At first she could not quite remember, but then it began to pour into her like a raging river. Memories that she had locked away for reasons that escaped her at the time. Her eyes glazed with tears as the man smiled at her. Her heart began to pound, and her stomach burned. But this man was not the one that cause such fierce reactions. There was another.
She looked around frantically for other man. She could not quite grasp his name or why he caused such feelings to swell within her, yet the feeling gave her a intense mixture of grief and joy.
Then something happened. She became aware not only of what she had forgotten, but what and who she was. Her whole image changed. She stood tall and confident as a noble lady should. Her blue eyes were filled with the burning intensity that seemed to penetrate the soul. She was one again herself.
She bowed low to the man before her and spoke, “It is very good to see you, Lord Amon.”
“Oh the pleasure is all mine, your majesty. I only wish I could have relinquished your bonds much sooner. Shall we go?
        “Of course.”
She stepped out into the moonlit night and followed the man a few paces out. She turned to her small cottage once more and whispered a promise to it.
“Someday I will return with him. And this will be our home.”
The man raised his hand to the sky. The moons shined bright for a mere second and they were gone.

The man stood at the gates awaiting the arrival of his beloved princess. It had taken him nearly a fortnight to get here and his anticipation was growing with a fury he had not ever felt before. He had waited for this day for more than five years and the weight of it had almost been unbearable.
The wind suddenly changed and the moon seemed to shine brighter than he had seen it in decades. He shielded his eyes trying to catch a glimpse of what had come through. There were two figures. The first was a man dressed in a brown suit and hat. His smile was bright upon his face. The second was the one that stole his breath in an instant.
She was clad in a simple blue dress that fell over her form in a magnificent elegance. He eyes burned a shined bright blue as it the moon itself had manifested itself within them. As she looked upon him her poise seemed to melt and she ran. Leaping into his arms as she had done so many times before. It was this moment above all that sent a ripple of joy through the crowd that stood to greet their princess.
Still holding her in his arms the man spoke, “I am sorry that you were forced to endure such strife m’lady. It was not my intention for this to happen.”
She did not answer him except to sink deeper into his embrace. She had chosen her path knowing the consequences. Bt that was all in the past. Now was the time for the true happiness to begin. This was the time for her kingdom to gain the valor it once held.
Lord Amon came forward to address the two lovers, “I am sorry to bother Lord Damos, but I need to present her majesty with the crown in order for us to proceed.”
        “Of course.”
Lord Amon pulled a glistening silver tiara as if from nowhere and held it before him, “It took me quite a bit of effort to retrieve this. You had it well protected within the palace. However no safe is safe from me.” He smiled brightly and placed the symbol of royalty upon her head.
Tali and Damos ascended the great stairs that lead to the palace followed by the people of their kingdom. Once they had reached the top of these magnificent steps they turned to face them.
“Now we bring you this peace” Tali’s voice echoed through the night.
“And forever shall it stay with harmony” The words of Lord Damos.
With that they entered the palace to retire for the evening and rekindle their buried love. It was this night that struck the beginning of prosperity and light.
        The love of two souls.

Lament

Hello again. I have a poem. The foolishness of my love inspired me as it always does; the one girl I truly fell in love with. Jack's Lament is a fitting song for my mood and my poem.

Invisible Rhyme.

Lament

“Walk towards the white light”
It echoes through my heart like a cool stream
It keeps me from forgetting
It only hurts when I awaken

Time only feeds what tears within me
A thing that is a seemingly impossible boon
But yet I still sail on dark waters
Ever waiting for the light

Still I wonder if I can hold out
Eyes pierce me as if from above
A figure that haunts me through night and day
There is only one…
